Montreal Nationals take the $100,000 main prize.

The inaugural season of the Global Poker League Championship played out this week with the Montreal Nationals besting the Berlin Bears across 11 games to claim the $100,000 main prize.

This series has seen a number of high profile poker players in the various GPL teams, including Faraz Jaka, Phil Galfond, Maria Ho, Olivier Busquet, Chance Kornuth, Marc-Andre Ladouceur and Anatoly Filatov.

Presented with plenty of showmanship razzmatazz in a large and hi-tech glass cube, the final playoff list gives an idea of the quality of the finalists in the two surviving teams:

Sorel Mizzi (Bears) vs. Mike McDonald (Nationals)

Bill Perkins (Bears) vs. Pascal Lafrancois (Nationals)

Brian Rast (Bears) vs. Jason Lavallee (Nationals)
