HKJC TO COMMINGLE BETS FROM UK

Betfred, Coral and Ladbrokes first in line.

In a landmark deal, the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) and UK Tote have reached agreement enabling the commingling of bets from the United Kingdom to the worlds largest per-race pari-mutuel tote pools in Hong Kong.

UK betting shops and online platforms of long-established operators such as Betfred, Coral and Ladbrokes will be able to accept bets on the Hong Kong Jockey Clubs pari-mutuel tote pools, excluding fixed-odds wagering, with Satellite Information Systems (SIS) providing live broadcasts to the UK market.

“Given its tremendous legacy in the sport of horse racing, it is a great pleasure to welcome the U.K. to our expanding list of commingling jurisdictions,” Richard Cheung, Executive Director, Customer and Marketing for HKJC said.

“While we are certain that U.K. racing fans will be attracted to the world-class racing in Hong Kong, especially with our LONGINES Hong Kong International Races looming on Sunday, 11 December, our midweek racing, often at Happy Valley, is a perfect midday option for customers.”

HKJC said it anticipates further agreements with other UK operators in the near future.
