Illinois DFS Bill frozen by Democratic Party

Friday, May 20, 2016 : LATE ‘RECONSIDER' MOVE STALLS D.F.S. BILL IN ILLINOIS SENATE (Update)

Bill frozen by Democratic Party Senator despite 32-22 approval of executive committee.

The vagaries of Illinois political procedure appear to have stalled a daily fantasy sports legalization bill in the Illinois Senate despite a 32-22 approval vote in the body's executive committee.

Freezing bill HB 3655 in its tracks and preventing it from being sent to the House floor for a vote, Chicago Democratic Party Sen. Antonio Munoz filed a motion to reconsider the bill immediately following the positive Senate vote, which came with HB3655 running dangerously short of time for passage

Munoz was one of the bill's supporters, and it is not yet clear what motivated his motion to reconsider.
