Italian Ministry of Finance Merging With AAMS

Wednesday June 20, 2012 :  ITALIAN GAMBLING AUTHORITY TO MERGE WITH CUSTOMS

Form part of austerity measures

The Italian Government's Ministry of Finance is reportedly merging AAMS, the Italian gaming authority with the Italian Customs Agency.

The newly formed authority which will be known as the "Agency of Customs and Monopolies" has been undertaken as an austerity measure.

Giulio Coraggio of DLA Piper opines that most AAMS personnel and functionality will simply move across to the new agency and that there will be little, if any, effect on gaming companies operating in the Italian market.
