The German gambling group JAXX AG has announced that Goetz Graf von Hardenberg will be stepping down as chairman of the Supervisory Board April 6, 2009. To maintain the correct number of seats, the board has proposed to shareholders the appointment of Rainer Jacken as a director effective May 14, when the next shareholder's meeting takes place.

Jacken is a founder, 1.6 percent shareholder and Management Board spokesperson of JAXX AG, and will surrender office as a Management Board member with effect from April 1, 2009. His areas of responsibility – Consumer Sales, Investor Relations and Business Development – will be divided between the remaining Management Board members Mathias Dahms and Stefan Hänel. The function of Management Board spokesperson will be taken on by Mathias Dahms, who has been involved in JAXX since its founding.

Graf von Hardenberg is a Management Board member of Hanseatische Verlags-Beteiligungs AG in Hamburg and has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board of JAXX AG since its establishment on December 22, 1998, steering the company through both calm and stormy waters over the past ten years.

"That I had the privilege of being part of JAXX AG throughout its first ten years has undoubtedly been one of the most stimulating and exciting tasks of my career,"  he commented. "JAXX is now making steady progress, so this is a good time to hand over to someone else. My very best wishes to my successor and the whole JAXX team for a successful future."

Jacken said that JAXX had successfully made the transition from a German lottery agent to a European gaming group. "The foundations for profitable growth outside the German lottery market, which is choking under a mass of absurd legalization, have now been laid," he said. "Even if I will no longer be involved in the game as team captain, I will be cheering on just as ardently from the touchline!"
