PHILLY MAN CHARGED IN SPORTS BETTING CASE


Posted 2/11/11 : Online gambling ring was busted by FBI
 
United States Attorney Zane David Memeger has announced in Philadelphia that another internet sports betting ring has been dismantled following an FBI investigation.
 
Memeger said that charges have been laid against one Joseph Kelly, a 42-year-old Philly resident, in respect of his alleged involvement in an illegal gambling business that involved sports betting.
 
Kelly has yet to indicate his guilt or innocence, but if convicted could face a maximum possible sentence of up to five years in prison, three years of supervised release, up to $250,000 in fines, and a $100 special assessment.
 
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jason Bologna.
