Julian Track Wins EPT Prague Main Event

Thursday December 19,2013  : GERMAN PLAYER TAKES THE EUROPEAN POKER TOUR PRAGUE HONOURS

Julian Track bests an entry field of 1,006.

German poker ace Julian Track is Euro 725,000 wealthier this week after emerging victorious from a 1,007-entry field in the European Poker Tour Prague main event.

After 6 days of intense action the final table in the event still took a full day to produce a winner from eight accomplished players in Julian Track and Ole Schemion from Germany; Georgios Sotiropoulos from Greece; the UK's Stephen Chidwick and Max Silver; Ka Kwan Lau of Spain; Zdravko Duvnjak from Croatia; and Finland's Jorma Nuutinen.

Heads up it was Track vs. Sotiropoulos, with the German holding 17.265 million to the Greek's 12.915 million. The two agreed a chop in which each would take Euro 700,000 and leave Euro 25,700 on the table for the winner.

Railbirds have since commented that Track did not appear to be feeling well and probably agreed to the chop despite his significant chip lead to end the game quickly but still profitably.

If that was his motivation it didn't really work out for him…the heads up went on for several more hours as the Greek underdog fought resolutely on, doubling twice to stay in the game but in the end unable to beat his tough German opponent.

The payouts looked like this at the end of the day:

Julian Track Euro 725,700
Georgios Sotiropoulos Euro 700,000
Stephen Chidwick Euro 378,000
Ka Kwan Lau Euro 283,800
Ole Schemion Euro 218,300
Max Silver Euro 160,200
Zdravko Duvnjak Euro 118,200
Jorma Nuutinen Euro 84,600
