Ladbrokes to change its online gambling licensing jurisdiction

Norfolk Island licensing changes prompt switch to Northern Territory regulation.
 
Ladbrokes has confirmed rumours earlier this month that it was about to change its online gambling licensing jurisdiction, announcing that it is to switch to Northern Territory licensing from September 28.
 
In doing so, Ladbrokes follows Betfair Australia, which made a similar change recently to take advantage of new betting exchange laws with attractive fee and tax incentives .
 
The reason for the Ladbrokes switch appears to be associated with the Australian federal governments action in removing licensing privileges from the Norfolk Island Gaming Authority following the BetHQ -CitiBet racing fall-out (see previous InfoPowa reports).  The consequent uncertainty regarding the future of Norfolk Island licenses has reportedly worried a number of operators.
