$3,300 buy-in LAPT Punta del Este main event Results

Thursday September 24,2015 : ARGENTINE ACE TAKES DOWN HIS SECOND L.A.P.T. TITLE

Mario Lopez triumphs in LAPT Punta del Este main event.

Argentina's poker ace Mario Lopez has claimed his second Latin American Poker Tour title after winning the $3,300 buy-in LAPT Punta del Este main event, earning the first prize of $155,730 and bringing his career live tourney earnings close to $2 million.

Lopez's previous LAPT title was in Chile last year when he was victorious in the $1,700 buy-in main event after besting 608 other competitors to win $117,991.

This year's Punta del Este attracted a field of 267 entries, creating a prize pool worth $776,970. The heads up saw Lopez and fellow countryman Hilario Quijada duking it out in an evenly matched finale to the game that included an abortive chop negotiation before play concluded in a Lopez victory, leaving Quijada with the consolation of a $103,580 runner up prize.

Lopez is on something of a roll this year; at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas he was runner up in the 4,555-entry $1,111 Little One for One Drop event, earning $399,455, and just a month ago he won Euro 408,000 in the Estrellas Barcelona Euro 1,100 buy-in main event after beating a field of 3,292 entries.

That was followed almost immediately by a twentieth placing in the 1,694-entry European Poker Tour Barcelona Euro 5,300 buy-in main event, worth Euro 53,570.

The other final table pay-outs in the Punta del Este were:

German Christiansen (Argentina) $75,760
Chadi Moustapha (Lebanon) $61,140
Ariel Eghi (Argentina) $47,940
Patricio Rojas (Chile) $36,280
Jorge Alberto Cantos (Argentina) $26,660
Ruben Barros (Argentina) $19,580
