LAS VEGAS CASINO OWNER CONTEMPLATES ONLINE POKER

Thursday September 15,2011 : Michael Gaughan has consistently supported the idea of legalised internet poker in the United States

Earlier this year Michael Gaughan, the owner of the South Point Casino in Las Vegas, voiced his support for legalised online poker  as a logical development in the continued growth of the biggest gambling centre in America.

This week, Gaughan took practical steps to ensure his company is among the early adapters in a situation where the federal legalization of internet poker is looking increasingly likely.  The state of Nevada has already approved legalising laws conditional on the US Congress passing the necessary legalization.

Gaughan announced that he is ready to launch an experimental free-to-play Internet poker site that is expected to open its virtual doors to US players within the "next couple of weeks."

"I’m just getting my feet wet but I expect that down the line I am going to be applying for a license," Gaughan said, revealing that he will probably partner with Las Vegas based ZEN Entertainment, a company that has been attracting the attention of investors and reportedly enjoys strong ties to brothers Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta, who control the recently restructured Station Casinos and earlier this year showed an interest in an online poker venture with the now moribund Full Tilt Poker.

ZEN is already operating free-play internet poker sites, including one for Hustler Casino founder and controversial publisher Larry Flynt.
