Malaysia plans to send enforcement officers to China to study anti-online gambling tactics.
 
Malaysia is to turn to the human rights-challenged Chinese government for assistance in tackling illegal online gambling, corruption and prostitution, Minister of Home Affairs Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi  told reporters Saturday after visiting an exhibition held in conjunction with the 60th anniversary of the Film Censorship Board.
 
The Minister said there are plans to send enforcement officers to China to learn from the success of enforcement departments there in clamping down on similar social problems.
 
Noting that the Chinese Ministry of Public Security and the Chinese police had been effective in curbing online gambling in particular, Ahmad Zahid said:
 
“The servers are not available in Malaysia nor in China, but are available in other countries, which makes it difficult to curtail.
 
“However, the Chinese police have managed to handle the problem well.”
 
Malaysia is currently engaged in a nation-wide enforcement drive to eliminate illegal online gambling, and has resorted to widespread police raids, blocking websites and cutting off power supplies to known centres for online gambling
