Marvin Rettenmaier named Poker Player of the Year and tops European Poker Award nominations
 
2012 has been a marvellous year for Martin Rettenmaier of Germany, who has already been selected as Player of the Year by the influential sites , and is top of the nomination lists for the upcoming 2013 European Poker Awards. He has also been honoured as the 2012 European Global Poker Index Player of the Year.
 
Among his most impressive…and well-paid… achievements this year, the young German can claim a first place in the Euro 2,000 buy-in EPT Grand Final Monte Carlo worth Euro 118,300; another first in the $25,000 buy-in World Championship Las Vegas for $1.2 million; and a third first placing at the Euro 10,000 buy-in EPT Prague, where he took home the equivalent of $477.479.
 
The 2013 European Poker Awards take place on January 22, promising to be a glitzy affair featuring top international live and online players like Bertrand Grosspellier, Neil Channing, Tony Guoga, Gus Hansen, Chris Moorman and  Viktor Blom.
 
The awards will be handed out at the Elysee Biarritz in Paris as part of the Euro Finals of Poker Series, with Kara Scott as master of ceremonies.
 
Among the nominations are Gaëlle Baumann, who along with Elisabeth Hille set the WSOP main event on fire last year with a sterling rookie performance; Sam Trickett and Davidi Kitai who compete for Best Tournament Performance; Liv Boeree, and Viktor Blom, Jens Kyllönen, Chris Moorman, Ilari Sahamies in the Internet Player of the Year category.
