What Kind of NBA Finals Would the Heat and Spurs Deliver?

NBA Finals Preview – What Kind of NBA Finals Would the Heat and Spurs Deliver?

The  2012 Belmont Stakes betting is heating up and so are the speculations about the NBA Finals. The San Antonio Spurs have won 20 consecutive games and that includes its first 10 games of the playoffs. The Oklahoma City Thunder was highly regarded as the best team in the NBA coming into the playoffs. But the Spurs are making the Thunder look like rank amateurs. The ball movement being utilized by the Spurs has made the Oklahoma City defense completely ineffective and the Thunder look like it is about ready to raise the white flag in the NBA Western Conference Finals.

The  sportsbooks were really looking forward to a showdown in the NBA Eastern Conference Finals between the Chicago Bulls and the Miami Heat. But injuries knocked the Bulls out of the playoffs early and allowed the Boston Celtics to slip in and challenge the Heat for the Eastern Conference crown. The Boston Celtics and San Antonio Spurs are in very similar situations. They are both veteran teams looking to stop the rise of an upstart, younger opponent. The problem for Boston is that it is not able to contain the Heat the way that the Spurs are able to contain the Thunder.

If all things remain as they are, then it will be the San Antonio Spurs and the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals. The  betting  experts have all but forgotten that this was a lockout-shortened season because the drama and the headlines have been so captivating all season long. Would a Heat-Spurs final be the perfect way to cap a very interesting NBA season? Most fans would agree that the Spurs meeting the Heat in the NBA Finals would be a great matchup to watch.

The manner in which the Spurs have been able to completely confuse the Oklahoma City Thunder defense would not work against Miami. The Heat is one of the best defensive teams in the league and Miami holds strong to its tough defensive stand under the defensive boards. The Heat can rebound and the Heat are fluid when it moves around on the floor playing defense.

The Spurs showed in game two of its series against the Thunder that defense is not the San Antonio strong point. The best sports betting sites understand that the Spurs are not as mobile as the Thunder, so San Antonio has chosen to not play a two-way game against Oklahoma City. So far, that strategy has worked very well. But San Antonio will need a good transition game to beat the Heat, and the Miami Heat are known for getting the ball down the court in a very big hurry.

If the Heat and the Spurs met in the NBA Finals, fans can expect a fast-paced series for the first two games. But as San Antonio tries to slow down the pace of play, the Heat will be able to push back. While it does not seem likely at this point, the Miami Heat has exactly what it needs to win the NBA Championship this year, even if Miami has to play San Antonio in the finals.
