More Nevada Poker Licenses to be COnsidered

Friday August 3,2012 : MORE NEVADA LICENSES TO BE CONSIDERED

South Point Casino and Monarch Interactive up next

Two more companies from a pipeline of 30 applicants will appear before the Nevada Gaming Control Board at its next meeting in a quest for state licensing of proposed online poker operations.

The next meeting is scheduled for August 8 at the Board's offices in Carson City, with South Point probably the more high profile of the two applicants following the extensive publicity given earlier this year to CEO Michael J. Gaughan and his intention to get into the intrastate online poker market as soon as legally possible, and preferably before year-end.

The Board's website shows an application from Gaughan Straight Holdings of Las Vegas for licensure as an operator, software manufacturer and service provider in respect of a wholly owned company branded South Point Poker LLC.

Gaughan is on record as saying that his company is operationally good to go, having already been extensively and independently tested by an authorised testing agency. South Point has a free-play website up and running at South Point Poker.com, which will be upgraded to real money action using new software once the imprimatur of the NGCG and the Nevada Gaming Commission has been achieved.

John Farahi of the Reno-based Monarch Casino and Resort is seeking operator licensure for a 100 percent owned company titled Monarch Interactive Inc. of Reno.
