New JErsey Online Gambling Possible By September 2012

03/18/2012 : NEW JERSEY ONLINE GAMBLING STILL POSSIBLE BY SEPTEMBER 2012

Legalisation bill may have stalled Thursday, but it's still on track says proposer

Sen. Ray Lesniak, whose bill aimed at legalising intrastate online gambling in New Jersey stalled in the state legislature Thursday is confident that it will eventually pass, and that online gambling in his state remains a possiblity by September this year.

Lesniak revealed Friday that the bill was delayed until Wednesday by amendments to licensing technicalities from Governor Chris Christie's office, leaving insufficient time to push the bill through the Assembly this week due to state budget deliberations.

However, he remained confident that the bill would pass, and that it will still be possible to gear the administration up in time to start licensing operators by September 2012.

Lesniak's revised plan is to get the bill out of committee and through both houses before mid-April and onto the governor's desk.
