Malta Trying To Strengthen Online Gambling Industry

New bodies to enhance influence in a new and more nationally regulated era.
 
In what appears to be a response to the increasingly regulated online gambling market in Europe, the island regulatory jurisdiction of Malta has published its proposals for change in order to stay relevant.
 
Government and the Lottery and Games Authority (the regulator) have collaborated in an attempt to extend the island's influence and regulatory infrastructure through a four-year plan that includes:
 
* The creation of a Gaming Academy which will lead research and build knowledge for the significant i-gaming community on the island;
 
* Further research into gambling addiction and responsible gambling services for European consumers;
 
* The creation of a new body titled Gaming Malta, charged with promoting Malta’s business and jurisdiction services in i-gaming;
