Wednesday October 22,2014 : CHILE'S OSCAR ALACHE WINS L.A.P.T. POKER GRAND FINAL
Field of 692 generates a prize pool worth $ 1,040,420, enabling 103 players to cash.
The Grand Final of the Pokerstars Latin American Poker Tour concluded this week with Chilean pro Oscar Alache claiming the top spot after a three-way chop at the tough 8 hour final table.
Alache was one of 692 players in the $1,700 buy-in main event, which generated a prize pool of $ 1,040,420, enabling 103 players to cash as the action unfolded in Lima, Peru.
Final table action started with Mexico's Jerson Backmann firmly in charge with just over 3 million chips, chased by the tenacious Alache on 2.2 million and Brazil's Marcos Exterkotter on 2.1 million.
Backmann started well, eliminating two opponents, but he came up short in several exchanges with Alache and well into the three-handed stage a chop was arranged by Backmann, Alache and Uruguayan player Daniel Campodónico, who had earlier sent two other players to the exit.
With the deal to leave $20,000 on the table for the winner sealed, action resumed with Backmann coming under increasing pressure from both Alache and Campodonico, to which he eventually succumbed, exiting in third for $140,519.
Heads up, Campodonico held an almost 4 to 1 chip lead, but Alache executed some telling doubles which gave him the lead and ultimately the game in a very close finish.
Due to the chop Alache's victory was just $115,488, whilst Campodónico took home $128,252 as runner up.
Other pay-outs at the final table included:
Marcos Exterkotter, Brazil, $65,240
Luis Harrero, Venezuela $51,920
José Torre, Argentina, $39,840
Jakub Kyrian, Czech Republic, $28,820
Carlos Sobenes, Perú, $19,660
