Poker Pro Arrested By Swedish Cops
Serious allegations made against young poker player. Online poker message boards were abuzz Friday following a Swedish newspaper article earlier in the week reporting the arrest of an as yet unidentified, 23-year-old poker player on a range of 20 serious charges that includes:
Charges Include
- 4 blackmailing cases between June and December 2011.
- 1 robbery in December, 2011
- 1 aggravated robbery or aggravated extortion in June, 2012.
The report claims that large amounts of cash generated in games at Pokerstars may be involved, and that a number of well-known Swedish poker pros were victims of the accused, who was arrested Thursday on a warrant issued early in July.
It is understood that in at least one of the charges the accused, who has denied guilt, is alleged to have used a firearm, seriously aggravating the offense.
Aftonbladet reports that a Swedish district court in Gothenburg found probable cause for detention, and the accused will soon appear in court.
