Pokerstars 50 Billionth Poker Hand Reached


220 000 players on 33 000 virtual tables on the winning day
 
The outstanding achievement of providing fifty billion hands of poker  was secured by Pokerstars.com Wednesday at 10.37am EDT, reports the Pokerstars blog.
 
With the fifty billionth hand and substantial rewards in sight, the website was a hive of activity as 220 000 players on 33 000 tables logged in for a crack at the record-breaking hand.
 
Amid intense excitement, the lucky hand finally fell to a 2c/5c table titled Ornamenta, where German player ‘tbvle' picked up $56,140 for the winning hand, and the five other players at the table received between $2,990 and $3,070, an amount based on the number of VIP points they had earned over the previous 50 hands. All the players at Ornamenta also received a $5,200 WCOOP Main Event ticket.
 
The big winner is no stranger to the virtual tables at Pokerstars; according to the independent site Poker Table Ratings the German poker fan has played around 290 000 hands in the last year and a half, averaging hundreds of hands almost every day.
 
All told, the 50 Billionth promotion handed out some $952,239.50 to Pokerstars players. In addition to the winning table, the online poker giant awarded cash prizes to players in 300 milestone hands commencing at 49.7 billion and on every millionth hand thereafter.  Promotions continue until September 25, including three $50 000 free rolls.
