Poker : Pokerstars Poker Pros

PokerStars.com is the world’s largest online poker site and the online poker home to 6 World Series of Poker Main Event Champions. The world champions of poker that make PokerStars their online poker home are Tom McEvoy (1983), Chris Moneymaker (2003), Greg Raymer (2004), Joe Hachem (2005), Peter Eastgate (2008) and Joe Cada (2009). In addition to these champion players several other big name pros are part PokerStars pro player roster.

Perhaps the biggest name poker star you’ll find playing online is Daniel Negreanu. Born July 26, 1974 in Toronto, Ontario Canada it didn’t take long for Negreanu to decide on an unconventional way of life. At age 15 with his mind set on being a professional pool player he started to learn poker. A year later he was a regular in pool halls, hustling at snookers, betting occasional sports and playing poker. During his senior year of high school Negreanu decided school wasn’t his thing; he dropped out and began a career as a professional poker player. As you can imagine, because we’re posting it here, Negreanu’s story doesn’t go anything like it does for most teenagers that follow the same career path.

Daniel’s strong desire to compete at the highest levels mixed with his uncanny ability to read and associate with people eventually landed him atop the poker world. In his young career he’s managed to capture 4 World Series of Poker bracelets and 2 World Poker Tour titles. His most successful year came in 2004 when he won both the Card Player and World Series of Poker player of the year (POTY) races. Negreanu has $12,583,677 in career tournament winnings, which trails only Phil Ivey on the all-time tournament money list.

No doubt Daniel Negreanu is one of the most talented and accomplished players in the game. However his fan base started growing long before he accomplished most of his career accolades. Since bursting onto the poker tournament scene in 1997 with three wins including two at the World Poker Finals at Foxwoods, Negreanu has been very active on poker forums. He’s also spent a great deal of time writing strategy articles for publications such as Card Player, Poker Player Magazine, and Poker Pages during the late 1990s and until recent years.

Today, Negreanu still communicates regularly with his fans, now using mostly blogs and video blogs to do so. There is no poker player that has remained more assessable and loyal to his fans from the start of his career on through his role as a superstar than Daniel Negreanu; this is what makes him the perfect featured pro for the PokerStars website.
