PokerStars UK and Ireland Poker Tour's Nottingham leg is packing 'em in
 
British and international poker aces have been flocking to Nottingham, England this week for a crack at the GBP 1 million prize pool at the PokerStars UK and Ireland Poker Tour.
 
Held at the Dusk Till Dawn club, the three Day 1 flights have attracted an entry field of around 1,600, according to reports in the local media.
 
"Players here are wearing baseball caps or hoodies, and collectively have more sunglasses than all the shop fronts of San Tropez," one reporter observed.
 
The UKIPT event will finish in the early hours of Monday and the overall winner is set to receive more than GBP 200,000. The tournament is running over five days, with games being fought over 56 tables. Each player starts with 15,000 chips; games start at noon and finish around 1.30am.
 
Players from all over the world, including Iceland, Malaysia and Mexico have travelled to the club with dreams of striking it lucky, with most paying GBP 770 for the privilege of playing.
 
Kirsty Thompson, UKIPT president, said: "The number of people playing in online tournaments on PokerStars to win a seat to UKIPT Nottingham has been absolutely huge. The guaranteed minimum prize pool of £1 million has created a massive amount of interest."
 
Team PokerStars Pros Liv Boeree, Vicky Coren, Marcel Luske and Jude Ainsworth, along with Paul Foltyn, Neil Channing, Chris Brammer and Kevin MacPhee are all competing.
