Powerbucks Launches Online in North america

IGT POWERBUCKS LIVE WITH BCLC’S PLAYNOW

North America’s first omni-channel progressive prize pool jackpot.

International Game Technology and the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) have announced the Canadian debut of IGTs Powerbucks, highlighted as North Americas first omni-channel progressive prize pool jackpot.

Powerbucks links the jackpot pool from the land-based Powerhits slot games at BCLCs 33 gaming facilities, with the mobile and desktop versions of the game found on Play Now in British Columbia and Manitoba.

"Powerbucks delivers a whole new jackpot experience to Play Now players that is unique in North America," said Monica Bohm, BCLC Vice President of eGaming. "Players can play Powerbucks for a chance to win jackpots of $1 million or more anytime from their mobile devices, home computers or local casinos."

In related news, an internal BCLC audit revealed a limited failure in social responsibility reviews of gaming content.

The audit, completed in 2015, revealed non-conformance to mandatory reviews in two instances regarding web casino games, CTV News reports.

BCLC’s mandatory reviews are intended to assess each games impact on problem gambling and reject those whose imagery appeals to minors or that excessively glamourise gambling.

"Not completing a CSRA may lead to initiatives conflicting with corporate social responsibility objectives, and may result in negative public perceptions towards BCLC," auditors reportedly wrote.

BCLC has since rectified the oversight, saying staff turnover and training could be attributed to the breach, pledging to train additional staff on problem gambling.

The corporation is committed to curbing gambling addiction, even if doing so reduces its income, BCLC’s vice president of social responsibility, Susan Dolinski, said.

"That is why we invest in so many programs. Our goal, to be clear, is that none of our revenue would come from problem gamblers. There is always more we can do."
