Racing Post customer database was illegally accessed

Fears that Racing Post customer database was illegally accessed.
 
Racing Post editor Bruce Millington had his hands full addressing a major hacking attack this week which he described as sophisticated, sustained and aggressive, admitting that a subscriber database had been partly compromised.
 
Millington emphasised that customer debit and credit card details were not part of the compromised database and were therefore safe and secure, although he advised that the same did not apply to usernames, first and last names, encrypted passwords, email and residential addresses and date of birth, saying that these personal details therefore had to be regarded as at risk of having been compromised.
 
That being the case, Millington recommended to his clients that they revise their passwords on other sites if these were the same or similar to those used on Racing Post.
