Petition to Ban Online Gaming in Singapore

PETITION EMERGES AGAINST IGAMING IN SINGAPORE

Attracts 10,000 signatures in under two weeks.

Singapore Pools and Singapore Turf Club’s application to operate online betting has triggered the origination of a petition that calls on the Government to deny authorization and stop legalization of online gambling.

The petition, which has attracted 10,000 signatures in under two weeks, says these two companies have “audaciously” run final tests on their online betting platforms and have prepared advisories for staff and customers despite not yet receiving approvals.

The petition, targeted at the Singapore Ministry of Social and Family Development, cites the prevention of gambling addiction and its appeal to young people as reasons to deny the applications.
