Sportech to Appeal Tax Issue

Thursday November 6,2014 : SPORTECH CONFIRMS IT IS TO APPEAL ON TAX ISSUE
 
Company is to make an application to appeal on VAT dispute.
 
Sportech plc confirmed Thursday confirms that it intends to submit to the Court of Appeal an Application for Permission to Appeal, and Notice of Appeal, in relation to the VAT repayment claim on the "Spot the Ball" game
 
The company has until 2nd December 2014 to do so following its defeat in the last round of arguments in the Upper Tribunal (Tax and Chancery Chamber) which refused the company's application for permission.
 
However, in refusing such permission, the judge, who ruled against Sportech in relation to this matter in September, commented that the Court of Appeal should be invited to consider whether to hear the appeal.
