Street Smart discusses US Online Gambling

Thursday January 9,2014 : POSITIVE COVERAGE FOR ONLINE GAMBLING ON U.S. TELEVISION PROGRAM

Bloomberg TV's “Street Smart” laughs off Adelson objections.

The widely respected Bloomberg business television program Street Smar" briefly but positively examined the legalised online gambling phenomenom in the US this week, in the process dismissing land casino mogul Sheldon Adelson's controversial campaign to ban the pastime altogether on moral grounds.

Trish Regan, Cory Johnson and Alix Steel of Bloomberg were joined by Greg Rayburn, a managing and founding partner at the respected consulting firm Kobi Partners.

Graphics onscreen during the discussion showed some impressive tax revenues figures broken down by state in the three US states that have so far legalised online gambling: Nevada, Delaware and New Jersey.

The graphics showed $49 million for Nevada, $40 million for Delaware and a whopping $435 million for New Jersey.

The consensus appeared to be that states need money, and online gambling can provide a previously untapped revenue stream if it is legalised. It is therefore probable that other states will monitor the progress and results in the three legalised states so far, and that positive results will encourage other states to join the trend.
