Monday April 29, 2013 : TAIWANESE PRO WINS MACAU POKER MAIN EVENT

$230,000 in prize money for Terry Fan

Taiwanese poker pro Terry Fan (30) bested a record 891-player field in the Pokerstars Macau Red Draghon tournament main event over the weekend, earning himself HK$1,771,000 (about $230,000.)

Fan survived the crowded field to enter the final table as chip leader, facing Gie Reyes (Philippines); Fei Xie and Wesley Zhu (China); Andy Asihwardji and Ryan Yu from Canada, Fanny Li (USA) and Sailesh Lohia from India.

Down to the heads up stage, Fan commanded a 2 to 1 chip lead over runner-up Gie Reyes, who proved unable to beat the leader's chip advantage and was quickly dismissed with a second-placing take-home worth HK$1,242,000.

The event was the culmination of poker festivities associated with the opening of the new Pokerstars LIVE Macau at the City of Dreams this week.
