Ever since the superstar duo of Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant made their way back to the court, the Oklahoma City Thunder has been steadily rising up the ranks.
Westbook marked his eight consecutive match with at least 20 points, five rebounds and five assists since returning from his injury. The Thunder faces the Sacramento Kings at 10:35 PM ET tonight and the Golden State Warriors on Thursday.
The Oklahoma City Thunder got off to a rocky start with Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant on the sidelines with hand and foot injuries. Ever since the superstar pair has returned to the court, the club has rocketed up the Western Conference standings and the NBA futures market.
Their record has jumped from 3-12 to 11-13. It’s no secret that the Thunder is capable of competing for a title; they’ve been doing so for the past half decade. What sets them apart this year is their ability to lumber through November with one of the most short-staffed rosters we’ve seen in some time.
As a result of their early injury woes (Westbrook with a broken hand and Durant with a foot injury), the Thunder started the 2014-2015 campaign in a big 3-12 hole. Now that Durant and Westbrook are back, the franchise is rolling. After winning six straight games, the Thunder has become a terror for opponents. The franchise has climbed up to eight place in the Western Conference. However in the sportsbook, only four teams are ahead of Oklahoma City for winning the championship. This season could be their greatest yet.
