UK Gambling Firms Partner For Underage Gaming

Sunday July 28,2013 :  BRIT GAMBLING GIANTS BAND TOGETHER AGAINST PROBLEM GAMBLING

20 leading UK firms to collaborate on reducing the risk to problem gamblers.

A group of 20 leading UK betting companies has joined forces to explore ways in which the potential harm of problem gambling can be minimised, reports the newspaper Herald Scotland.

Rank Group, Gala Coral, Paddy Power, Sky Bet, William Hill, Aspers Casinos and Ladbrokes are among the founding members of the newly-formed P3 Group social responsibility organisation.

The objective of the collaboration is to ensure that consumers have greater transparency and clarity on gambling offers, as well as trying to improve the identification of people who show tendencies towards risky, problematic behaviour.

P3 chairman, Russell Hoyle, said: "The industry needs to act proactively to minimise the risk of harm from gambling. The vast majority of people who gamble do so safely. However, we recognise that there is a small minority for whom gambling can be harmful.

"The P3 Group believes that the best way to understand and tackle this is through a cohesive, cross-industry approach."

Hoyle is the owner of gambling consultancy RB Hoyle Ltd and is a non-executive director at OpenBet Technologies Ltd, and a member of the board of directors of the Responsible Gambling Strategy Board. In the past he has been chairman of Inspired Gaming Group and Green Tube Ltd., and CEO at Leisure Link Group
