US SENATE HEARING ON DOJ INTERNET GAMBLING OPINION

1/23/2012 : US SENATE HEARING ON DOJ INTERNET GAMBLING OPINION

Hearing to take place early February 2012

The United States Senate Committee on Indian Affairs has scheduled an oversight hearing on the U.S. Department of Justice's (DOJ) opinion on internet gaming that will reportedly include discussions on "What's at Stake for Tribes".

The hearing follows an about turn in the DOJ's stance on online gambling late last year, when it released an opinion that The Wire Act applies only to online sports betting, opening the gates to interest in other forms of online gambling by industry stake holders.

The hearing is scheduled to take place on Thursday, February 9, 2012.
