Arraigned in U.S. District court.
Early U.S. media reports say seventeen men appeared before a Warwick State Third Division District Court today on charges ranging from organised criminal gambling and bookmaking to conspiracy.
The men were arrested during a series of raids in Rhode Island following an eight month investigation involving the State Police Intelligence Unit, Rhode Island Attorney General, the FBI, the U.S. Marshals Service and various local Police departments.
The men are alleged to have been operating an illegal internet gambling ring.
