Vanessa Selbst Wins PCA High Roller tournament

Tuesday January 15, 2013 : VANESSA SELBST WINS POKERSTARS HIGH ROLLER

Win cements poker pro's reputation as the most successful female player in the game

Vanessa Selbst can rightfully claim the crown of most successful female poker player this week following her victory in the Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure High Roller tournament. She earned $1,425,420, leaving her with tournament career earnings that eclipse those of former leader Kathy Liebert by a good million at $7,280,075.

Selbst faced a formidable final table in the $25,000 buy-in event, battling Valadimir Troyanovskiy, Mike Watson, Ole Schemion, Shaun Deeb, Bryn Kenney, Tobias Reinkemeier and Micah Raskin.

Down to the heads up, Selbst started out with the chip advantage against the tough Russian pro, Vladimir Troyanovskiy. The Russian gave a good account of himself, playing with fervour and doubling up on a number of occasions, but he was unable to stop the Selbst Express and in the end saw his kings beaten by an ace on the river.

The Russian's second placing prize of $792,180 will no doubt have eased the pain, along with Selbt's admission that: "This is probably the toughest final table I've ever played at."
