28 Vietnamese nationals charged For Online Gambling

28 Vietnamese nationals charged.

Vietnamese authorities have pressed charges against 28 locals suspected of involvement in a $9.1 million online gambling ring, according to Thanh Nien News.

Ho Chi Minh City resident Pham Huy Toan (38) is suspected of facilitating the ring while the other 27 will appear in court on various gambling charges.

Vietnamese prosecutors said Toan received VND 301 Billion ($13.3 million) in wagers from local bettors which he channeled through 58 different bank accounts before placing bets with an unidentified UK-based gaming website.

Locals bettors allegedly included government officials and students and Toan was reportedly paid around VND 727 million ($ 32 336) between March 2013 and July 2014 for his role as middleman.
