Traversing the straight and narrow to full compliance

Bookmaker William Hill has reportedly withdrawn its sports betting services from the Australian market in compliance with the stringent process involved in its Nevada gaming licence application.

The Australian Interactive Gambling Act 2001 states the provision of casino and poker games to Australian residents as a punishable offence and William Hill’s sports betting offering may fly a bit close to the wall.

Sportsbook Review (SBR) published an e-mail sent to players from William Hill which said:

"Following previous communications, please be advised that we have taken the decision to withdraw our Sports betting service for any customer registered in Australia. Any real cash funds held in your account will now appear in your main William Hill account and you can arrange withdrawal of these funds through the ‘My Account’ section of our site."

William Hill management reportedly confirmed the exit in the interview with SBR.
