Bookmaker William Hill strengthened its ties with Scottish football in an initial two-year deal with the Scottish Football Association to become an "official supporter" of the Scotland national football team.

Under the terms of the deal, William Hill will benefit from a wide range of sponsorship rights which include advertising, branding, hospitality and exclusive Scotland imagery and content.

William Hill Sportsbook & Racebook currently sponsors the William Hill Scottish Cup and is the "official betting partner of the Scottish Premier League (SPL).

"It’s really exciting to be involved with the Scottish national team," said Kristof Fahy, chief marketing officer at William Hill.  "The road to Rio is going to be fascinating – and we’re hoping to support the Scottish national team all the way to a place in the World Cup finals in 2014."

Campbell Ogilvie, president of the Scottish FA added: "We’re delighted to have williamhill.com as an official supporter of our national team. They’ve already shown a strong commitment to Scottish football – with their sponsorship of the William Hill Scottish Cup and their partnership with the SPL, and this further cements their position as one of the biggest supporters of Scottish football."

Online betting exchange Betfair has signed a sponsorship deal with ESPN covering Europa League football along with a two-year deal with boxing's Matchroom Sport  which will cover approximately twenty games on Sky Sports.

Vienna-based online sportsbook operator Interwetten has entered into a three-year sponsorship deal that will see it serve as a "Premium Partner" for top-flight German soccer team VfB Stuttgart.

This latest sponsorship follows numerous deals in March of this year involving Italian Serie A soccer teams Udinese, FC Parma, Novara Calcio, Siena and Lecce.

Under the terms of the agreement Interwetten is authorised to conduct advertising inside the Bundesliga team’s 60,000-seat Mercedes-Benz Arena along with other branding activities.

Jochen Rottgermann, marketing manager for VfB Stuttgart said: “Interwetten is an ideal complement to our strong partners and sponsors structure that is among the best in the entire league. Among other things, Interwetten will benefit from advertising on static perimeters, LED boards and Camcarpets in the Mercedes-Benz Arena. We look forward to working with them.”
