More Ladies Events at WSOPE

Friday August 2,2013 :  MORE FOR THE LADIES IN NEXT WORLD SERIES OF POKER EUROPE

Addition of a Ladies bracelet event should prove popular

World Series of Poker officials are to augment the brand's European tournament with the addition of a ladies bracelet event, director Ty Stewart announced Thursday.

The World Series of Poker Europe has shown steady growth in popularity since it was launched in 2007, and the time is right for such an addition, Stewart said.

“We first offered a Ladies event at the Vegas WSOP in 1977, and felt it was the right time to add this tradition to WSOPE,” said Stewart.

“We need to do more to promote ladies' involvement with the game, and with the many breakout stars in the region, it feels like a women’s European championship is long overdue.”

The addition will entail scheduling an additional day to the WSOPE program, slotting the ladies bracelet event in at the start on October 11 this year, when the tournament will be held at the Casino Barrière d’Enghien-les-Bains near Paris.
