1 Month In Yahoo Shuts Down Its Own Poker Site

Tuesday December 02,2014 : YAHOO CONFIRMS SHUT DOWN OF NEW ONLINE POKER OFFERING

Company to drop its Yahoo Poker, Yahoo Pool and Yahoo Bingo services for Web and mobile devices on December 31.

Following only weeks of operation , and heavy marketing investment, Yahoo has made the remarkable decision to drop its Yahoo Poker, Yahoo Pool and Yahoo Bingo services for Web and mobile devices with effect from December 31 2014.

The business publication Forbes reported Monday that security issues played a part in the decision, made despite significant advertising efforts on the company's fantasy football webpage.

Security appears to have been the major motivation for the decision, with the company noting a need for increased security requirements for the Yahoo web pages. These needs have left the game "incompatible, insecure and no longer functioning correctly," according to Yahoo.

The company has left open the possibility of launching a new Texas Hold'em game in the future, a spokesman said, noting that Yahoo has been working on new online games incorporating the necessary enhanced security elements, and that a revised Texas Hold'em offering may be included in this initiative at a later date.

Should this come to fruition it would probably have a social gaming format of being free-to-play, with boosts available for purchase by players, he said.
