Yorane Kerignard Wins World Poker Tour Malta Main Event

Friday September 21,2012 :  FRENCH VICTORY IN  WORLD POKER TOUR MALTA

Yorane Kerignard bests a field of 168 at Portomaso Casino

French poker pro Yorane Kerignard is Euro 120,000 wealthier this week after taking down the World Poker Tour Malta tournament for his third largest career win yet, taking him into million-Euro territory.

In addition to an impressive winner's check, the Frenchman received a seat at the WPT World Championship worth $25,500.

Kerignard bested an entry field of 168 players on his way to an international final table that comprised Jackson Genovesi, Alessio Isaia, Hui Chen Kuo, Zeljko Krizan and Sampo Ryynanen after four days of action at Casino Portomaso.

Alessio Isaia's departure in third position set the scene for a heads between Kerignard and Jackson Genovesi, with the latter around 600,000 chips ahead. It didn't last long – the French player staged a remarkable comeback to edge ahead and then dominate with a 2 to 1 lead.

It was too much for Genovesi to recover, and Kerignard took the honours, leaving his very emotional opponent to settle for a second placing pay day of Euro 82,370.
