Entry lists for PokerCon filling up fast for March 18 tourney

The Facebook online poker sensation Zynga reports that entry lists for its first real money live tournament, PokerCon, are filling up fast…and a number of big names have already opted in.

Among the top players that entrants will encounter at the tourney are Doyle Brunson, Antonio Esfandiari, Scotty Nguyen, Gavin Smith, Vanessa Rousso, David Williams and Mike Sexton.

Buy-ins for the tournament, which takes place on 18-19 March at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas, are $125.

San Francisco-based Zynga developed its Texas Hold’Em poker application and launched it on Facebook three years ago, where it has been a runaway success, gathering 28 million monthly free-play fans in over a hundred nations, who generate a stunning 360 million minutes of poker-playing a day.

On average, 5.6 million people across the planet play Zynga Poker daily – that’s 54 times the number of people that visit Las Vegas daily, according to the social games developer.

Zynga’s Texas Hold’Em has become the third most popular app on Facebook, with an average of 375 000 players in action simultaneously on most days.
