Jackpot Sit and Gos
Jackpot Sit and Gos
The Sit and Go poker tournament format has been shaken up with the new Spin and Go tournaments, as they are known as on PokerStars, which are essentially 3-player SNGs played in a hyper-turbo format.
How do Jackpot Sit and Gos Work?
As soon as the third player registers in the tournament, a random prize spinner will appear on the center of table and will display what the prize pool of the winner takes all tournament is. To a certain extent it plays a bit like the lottery, where you buy your ticket (buy-in) and see what prizes are available to you. But you’re still playing a sit and go poker tournament.
As a hyper-turbo Sit & Go tournament, they don’t take very long at all to complete. Generally, all the players will start the tourney with 500 chips. You can expect that each one will take around 10 minutes to complete, with 3 minute blind levels, so of course there is a lot of variance due to the fast-paced nature of the game. With that being said, it’s much easier grinding out hyper-turbo jackpot SNGs to even out the variance to see a realistic long-term expectation.
While PokerStars was the first online poker site to offer the Spin and Go format, due to its immense popularity, other poker sites have rushed to create their own take on Jackpot Sit & Gos, including Full Tilt’s Jackpot Sit & Gos.
Regardless of the Jackpot Sit and Gos you play, they will enable you to turn a small buy-in into a much larger prize. The maximum jackpot that you can be playing for will depend on the poker site, but in the case of PokerStar’s Spin and Go’s, players can win up to 3,000 times their buy-ins. Although the worst that could happen is that you double your buy-in if you manage to beat your two opponents.
There are also different Spin & Gos you can play. With buy-ins ranging from $1 to $60, this means there is a Spin and Go to suit all levels. Full Tilt’s Jackpot Sit and Gos also span a number of different limits, with buy-ins ranging from $1 to $10.
And since these jackpot sit and gos have more luck involved than traditional sngs, they tend to attract more recreational players, since they probably think it levels out the playing field so to speak. This in turn should make it easier to win money.
Even though it’s not possible to practice playing Jackpot Sit and Gos using virtual chips, you can observe the action of other players who are currently involved in a real money jackpot SNG to get more of a feel of what to expect. But if you’ve played a regular SNG tournament before, you pretty much know what to expect. Just don’t expect to get as many reads on your opponents.
