More Fulltilt poker Payments On The Way
Monday October 5,2015 : MORE FULL TILT PAYMENTS ON THE WAY
PPA chief John Pappas says next tranche of payments could be just weeks away.
Another tranche of Full Tilt reimbursements could be on the way within weeks, according to Poker Players Alliance executive director John Pappas, who posted Friday that his contacts at the Department of Justice had given him a heads up on the latest pay-out developments.
"This next wave includes roughly 2,000 petitioners totalling $5.7 million in funds," Pappas wrote. "These are petitioners with disputed funds, those with missing info and those who they consider “new petitioners” (e.g. did not file with valid log-in credentials)."
He went on to advise that the payments have already been approved, and that the money is now being processed to Garden City Group for distribution to recipients.
Pappas further revealed that around 3,800 petitions remain unresolved at present, adding that these are mostly new petitioners; he advised interested parties to monitor the fulltiltpokerclaims.com website for official updates.
InfoPowa readers will recall that in 2012 The Rational Group - parent of Pokerstars and the at that time recently acquired Full Tilt - reached a settlement with the Department of Justice on pre-Black Friday online poker operations in the United States.
The settlement included the provision of tens of millions of dollars for payment to US Full Tilt players via the Department of Justice, and the company spent further millions reimbursing non-US Full Tilt players prejudiced when the badly managed company tanked prior to its acquisition by Pokerstars in the wake of Black Friday.
The next tranche of payments is the seventh in the pay-outs that have been verified and made by Garden City Group, which was contracted by the DOJ to handle the complex task of auditing player claims and ensuring they were paid out. Observers keeping track of payments say that around 47,000 American players have been paid a total of approximately $109 million so far.
