Gruelling five day competition ends in victory for German pro Adrian Apmann.
 
The inaugural $1,500 buy-in Extended Play NLHE event – number 42 on the 2015 World Series of Poker schedule – concluded Wednesday after being extended from a four day competition to a five day test of endurance as players battled on.
 
The event attracted a field of 1,914, among them notable names like Barney Boatman, Antonio Esfandiari, Lisa Hamilton, Blaire Hinkle, Todd Witteles, Ryan Welch, Jonathan Little and Andre Akkari, although only Boatman and Russian ace Konstantin Puchkov held bracelets at the final table.
 
Benefitting from a prize pool of $2.58 million, 198 players cashed in the event, with German professional Adrian Apmann (26) claiming the lion's share of $478,102 and his first bracelet after besting Frenchman Yehoram Houri in a hard-fought heads up finale.
 
Before Apmann and Houri could meet in the heads up they had to contend with bracelet holder Barney Boatman from the UK, however, and he put up a strong resistance which dragged three-handed action out to almost five hours before Apmann dispatched him with a third placing check for $204.464.
 
Although well-played, the heads up was something of an anti-climax after the three-handed marathon, and the German pro was able to eliminate Houri, an amateur player from Paris, France in relatively short order to send him home with the runner up prize of $295.727.
