21 More Arrested in Malaysia Gambling Raids

Latest Operation Dadu raids in Malaysia see the arrests of 21 persons and seizure of 32 computers.
 
Malaysia's Operation Dadu police drive to eradicate illegal online gambling turned its attention to the Sibu province Friday, with late night raiding parties closing down an online gambling centre in the Delta Estate and arresting 21 persons.
 
Among them were two senior civil servants allegedly caught in the act: a 42-year-old officer with the Royal Malaysian Customs Department and a 29-year-old administrative officer with the Malaysian Fishery Development Board.
 
Officers of the Malaysian police's Gambling, Vice and Secret Society Division (D7) unit launched the raids on the high-security premises where the illegal activity was taking place, led by Inspector Heng Kok Howe.
 
A police spokesman revealed that 13 of the persons arrested were caught gambling red-handed while seven others, including two workers at the centre, were merely observers.
 
Police seized 34 computers, two modems, cash and other evidence as an employee told them that the ring had been operational for the last five years.
