The US$30million Dubai World Cup horse racing fixture at Meydan on Saturday will be available to over one billion homes. More than 150 territories will enjoy coverage of the world’s richest raceday, which will culminate with the world’s best racehorse, Arrogate, lining up for a shot at the $6m first prize on offer for the Dubai World Cup. The American superstar, winner of the Breeders’ Cup Classic and Pegasus World Cup, will be a red- hot favorite to land the showpiece race, sponsored by Emirates Airline.

Horses trained in Bahrain, France, Hong Kong, Ireland, Japan, Qatar, Singapore, South Africa, UAE, UK, US and Uruguay will contest nine top-class races, including five Group 1 (the highest grade) races for thoroughbreds.

The Dubai World Cup also breaks new ground by being the first horse race to be broadcast live on airlines (580 aeroplanes) and cruise lines via the Sport 24 channel. Racecourse Media Group (RMG), working with Meydan Group LLC, will showcase the day to a truly worldwide audience.

NBC Sports Network in the US is broadcasting a live three-hour programe for the first time, while other broadcasters taking live coverage include Eurosport (UK), Super Sport (South Africa), DSPORT (India), Sina (China), Arena Sport (Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Macedonia, Slovenia and Kosovo) and The Green Channel / Fuji TV (Japan). The MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region will be served by live coverage from Dubai Racing Channel, Yas TV and Al Kass.

South America (ESPN), Australia (racing.com), Poland (TVP), the UK (Racing UK, At The Races and ITV4), Scandinavia (TV Sports), Russia (NT+), Slovakia & Czech Republic (IFC Media) and Republic of Ireland (TV3) are other territories showing the action.

CNN is covering the race for its World Sport and Winning Post broadcasts, while Trans World Sport (global sports magazine programe) will offer the fixture added exposure. In addition, news outlets across the world will receive the story of the day via SNTV, the leading sports news video agency, which has a potential household reach of more than one billion.

Created through the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Dubai World Cup fixture is set against one of the most iconic sporting theaters, the state-of-the-art Meydan Racecourse. The architectural masterpiece measures 1.2km in length and can seat over 60,000 in its grandstand.
