New In Las Vegas SkyJump

4/21/10 – Las Vegas has a new heart-in-mouth, adrenalin-pumping attraction following the launch this week of what the owners brag is the world's tallest SkyJump attraction located 855 feet above the Strip.

The Skyjump is part of the new Stratosphere Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, an American Casino & Entertainment Property, which put on a spectacular opening ceremony attended by Las Vegas Mayor Oscar B. Goodman.

"Las Vegas is known the world over for having the best entertainment, restaurants, boutique shopping, hotels and gaming, and the new SkyJump attraction takes us to a world-class level for thrill rides," said the mayor. "I look forward to this new attraction at Stratosphere adding to the amazing experiences that you can find only in Las Vegas."

Guinness World Records was also present and declared SkyJump Las Vegas the highest commercial decelerator descent, breaking the previous record set by SkyJump at Macau Tower Convention and Entertainment Centre with a height of 764.4 feet.

Located atop of the Stratosphere Hotel & Casino, SkyJump Las Vegas can best be described as a controlled free fall. Riders are suited-up in Stratosphere's custom jump suits and connected to a patented high-speed descender machine. Similar to skydiving or base jumping, SkyJumpers literally leap off the platform to descend 829 feet to the landing pad below.

Frank Riolo, CEO of American Casino & Entertainment Properties says: "Between screams of excitement and the rush of wind in their hair, riders will experience an unmatched view of the city day or night and a thrill that will last a lifetime."

Stratosphere Casino, Hotel and Tower is a Las Vegas Strip resort with an 80 000 sq. ft. casino. The 1149-ft. Stratosphere Tower is the tallest free standing observation tower in the United States, featuring the Top of the World restaurant and highest view of the Las Vegas Strip from the Observation Deck; SkyJump Las Vegas and thrill rides, Big Shot, XScream and Insanity.
