VEIKKAUS PRESENTS STRONG RESULTS ON 70TH ANNIVERSARY

Posted 2/23/11 : Rapid growth of 25 percent in online gaming expected to continue throughout 2011
 
The Finnish state-controlled gaming operator Veikkaus presented a strong performance when it released its 2010 results this week.
 
The firm announced that it experienced exceptionally strong performance in the European gambling market which it attributed to its investment in customer relationships and efficient utilisation of customer information with regard to products and services.
 
Key Performance Indicators:
 
–     Betting reached an all time high in the company’s history with a recorded turnover of
      Euro 1 689.9 million an increase of 8.5 percent.
–     The company reported that online gaming showed the fastest growth of 25 percent.
–     Net profit was Euro 503.7 million.
–     Betting results contributed Euro 462.7 million to the Education and Culture Ministry to be distributed to Finnish arts, sports, science and youth work.
 
The company anticipates the good economic development to continue despite changes in the operating environment with online gaming expected to continue its rapid growth.
 
 
In related news Veikkaus announced the launch of a new android device betting application.
 
The application will enable smartphone users to check on the latest betting results and follow sports news amongst other features.
