Thursday July 28,2011 :  It's getting cheaper to buy apps

The latest independent Distimo study of the apps market reveals that it's getting cheaper to buy apps, and that poker is right up there at the top of the popularity list on the Android market.

Live Holdem Poker Pro by Dragonplay was at the top of the free apps chart in the Google Android Market in June, the monitor reports.

Non-gambling games like Doodle Jump, Angry Birds, and Fruit Ninja continue to attract vast numbers of downloads in both the Apple App Store for iPhone and the Google Android Market.

Despite the average selling price of games declining by 28 percent during the year (dropping from $2.01 in June 2010 to $1.44 in June 2011), revenue generated by some of the most popular freemium games has increased tenfold in the Apple App Store for iPhone.

Seventy-two percent of all downloads generated by the top 300 overall paid apps within the Apple App Store for iPhone are games.
