Wednesday May 25,2016 : INTERNATIONAL REGULATORS TO MEET IN SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

2016 annual conference scheduled for October 31 to November 3 this year.

Gambling regulators from around the world will be travelling to Australia later this year for the 2016 annual conference of the International Association of Gaming Regulators (IAGR) which has been scheduled to take place in Sydney from October 31 to November 3.

Gaming regulators from the Philippines, Singapore, Cambodia, Australia, India, UK, Isle of Man, Alderney, Malta, Denmark, Nevada and Delaware have confirmed attendance, along with colleagues from Asia, Australia, Africa, Central, South and North America, the Caribbean and Europe.

There will be particular emphasis on issues facing Asian regulators, although a wide range of international topics is on the agenda.

South African regulator and current president of the IAGR, Bheki Mlambo, said in a statement this week:

"As the gambling industry is continuously evolving, primarily due to rapid technological developments, our conference programmes must always be dynamic to ensure that we don’t lose sight of emerging opportunities and challenges facing regulators across the globe.

"To this end, I’m confident that the programme for our Sydney 2016 conference is being developed precisely with this in mind."

Michael Sarquis, a Queensland regulator from the host country, said:

“The ability to deal with common problems and share strategies and information across jurisdictions is an increasingly essential element in ensuring integrity and probity of the gambling industry in a globalised environment.  The International Association of Gaming Regulators' annual conference provides attendees with a great opportunity to network and share experiences with other regulators and learn from industry experts.  Australian regulators are excited at the prospect of the annual conference coming ‘down under’ and showing-off Sydney, one of the world's great cities.”

The conference will include an IMGL Masterclass element.

The week before the Sydney event, the East Meets West Regulators Summit takes place in the Philippines, giving international regulators who travel earlier more for their money. The Summit is sponsored by PAGCORP and the Cagayan jurisdiction, and has already received an impressive number of attendance commitments from regulators around the world..
