Betfair dice based, peer-to-peer games

Friday the 13th, 2012 :  New suite of dice based, peer-to-peer games unveiled.

UK online gambling group Betfair has launched three new community dice games under its Poker Cubed brand. In the new games players face each other across the virtual felt of an online gaming table, using a familiar poker-style betting format in which the cards are replaced by dice.

The three new offerings are:

* Dice Hold 'em – a new take on the popular poker variant, Texas hold 'em.

* Shoot the Moons – an easy to learn betting game, where players bet on who has rolled the highest scores. Any player who rolls a double six wins half the pot.

* Liar's Dice – an old bar favourite made more popular by movies like Pirates of the Caribbean, this game sees opponents try to outbid and out bluff each other on the values of ten partially concealed dice.

Betfair manager Ashley Chase said this week that the company wanted to give an innovative new twist to the game of poker in the form Poker Cubed.

"We believe the product offers a challenge to veteran card players and newcomers alike," he said. "Betfair's multi-player Poker Cubed games bring a new dimension to poker with six times the action."

The new product is powered by game developer Jadestone. Betfair's partnership with the developer led to the launch of the betting company's first ever backgammon product recently.

In related news, Betfair has also announced the launch of an online slot version of the cult classic video game Sensible Soccer, a huge hit in the ‘nineties developed by Atari.

The Betfair slot version features 5 reels, 25 pay-lines and a ‘Euro Cup' bonus feature, which invites the player to bet on a European soccer club and watch the progress of their choice through a simulated tournament. Any match featuring 10 goals of more will additionally trigger an unlimited progressive jackpot.
