Monday, October 17, 2011 : NEW SURVEY INDICATES THAT 25 PERCENT OF BINGO PLAYERS DO NOT USE SOCIAL NETWORKS

BingoPort study shows that a significant number of bingo players do their social networking on-site

BingoPort's latest study of internet bingo players has produced some interesting trends, showing that one in every four respondents do not use the popular mainstream social networks like Facebook at all.

Although it does not reveal the size of its sample, the study claims that 25.1 percent of BingoPort users, representing a significant portion of the UK's online bingo community, eschew any form of social networking at all while, at the opposite end of the spectrum, 69.9 percent of players log onto social networking giant Facebook at least once a week.

Twitter was the second most frequented social network amongst online bingo players, clocking in at 10.4 percent.

Recent arrival on the social networking scene, Google+, is used by 6.9 percent, while MySpace, which was once a leader in social networking, can claim only a 2.7 percent share of online players. Bebo is not far behind with only 2.5 percent of users.

The statistics are based on which sites the users log onto once or more a week on top of their use of BingoPort.com, so many users are clearly fans of Facebook, Twitter and BingoPort at the same time.

A spokesperson for BingoPort said: "We were quite surprised that such a large number of online bingo players don't use any of the popular social networking sites. Bingo is one of the best ways on the internet to mix with like-minded people and have lots of fun at the same time."
